We sat down to the dinner table to – no joke – eat our turkey burgers and vegetables when Katarina enlightened us:
“Have you ever heard of a Deep Fried Snickers Bar? What they do is insert a stick into a Snickers bar, freeze it, then dip it in CAKE batter and fry it, then drizzle it with chocolate and powdered sugar.”
Her siblings went into shock just hearing about this.
“What I’d like to know,” I commented, “is where YOU heard about it?”
She smiled. “My Health Teacher.”
“He was giving an example of what not to eat–it’s just that he explained it with such longing that I’m dying to try it!”
“He’s telling you not to do what he does?” I asked.
“No! He didn’t try it. He made a healthy choice.”
“He sure described it in detail for someone who didn’t eat it.”
“No, see, he just watched a lady at the fair eat it. Closely.”
I raised my eyebrow.
“Can we try it? Can we? Can we?” came the echoes the rest of the night.
Hmm. I’m not sure the Health teacher’s lecture had the intended result.
