Brave

Seen Brave yet?  We’d love to but haven’t yet.  So to hold us over, we were inspired to pull out the bows and arrows!

If you’ve never tried archery before, we highly recommend it.  It’s fun! And there are some affordable beginner sets at Amazon and Walmart.

Plus, it’s fun to have a photo shoot, and let them play with photo effects. This archer is too cool in my book.

It’s always a contest, for the observers, to see who can snap a picture of the arrow in mid-air. Do you see it?

There’s no need to buy a fancy target.  Use a cardboard box and fill it full with more cardboard, for stability (and to make sure it doesn’t go all the way through!)  The kids will have a blast painting the bullseye for you!

Looks like she has good form to me.

You have no idea how timely this is… Emily was lamenting the fact that she’s only turning 9 (not 10, which is her school’s age requirement for archery) so hubby and I were discussing surprising her with a bow and arrow for her birthday in a couple of weeks. You have the best ideas, and I’m not just saying that because we were thinking about the same thing :)

PS. I’d love to put you on my new blogroll (lost the old one in the move)- do you have any preference re: the photo to use for a thumbnail?

Knitted warmers to match her bow??! Too awesome! I never thought about backyard archery ’til now, but you’ve just put it on my list to try!

My girls just saw Brave and LOVED it. My husband and I have been toying with the idea of picking up a cheap beginner set to have around. Thanks for sharing this post.
