Oh what a night! Do you love Halloween as much as your kids? I certainly do!
I usually make the kids design their own costume out of stuff we already have. I thought they looked fabulous! For the first time that I can remember, I stayed home and passed out candy. We went through 3 giant bags of candy in the first hour. I frantically opened up the new Costco box of fruit roll ups and within another 30 minutes, had to turn my lights out! I’ll be better prepared next year!
I loved cranking up the Harry Potter soundtrack, and opening the door to see excited boys and girls. The teens didn’t look at anything but the bowl and didn’t look very excited either. Hopefully they had a good time when no one was looking their way. The family came home with their loot, we ate a couple pieces (candy checker fee, of course) that the kids didn’t want (never been so happy that my kids don’t like cinnamon candy – I got the Hot Tamales!), and crashed!
The bad thing about staying up too late and eating sugar before bed: I hate that feeling when you wake up without enough sleep–the alarm is blaring, you have no idea what’s going on, and you just start hitting anything and everything on your nightstand in a vain attempt to make the sound STOP! And the frantic attempt actually fully awakens you when really you just wanted to hit the snooze button for a few extra minutes of blissful sleep.
I still love Halloween though.
