True confessions: As an Iowa girl, you would have thought that I would have experienced a corn maze before. Yet, as far as my memory recalls, I haven’t. So when a chance to enter a 15 acre maze came my way, I figured I better try it. So glad we did!
We entered at sunset. I had hoped to get there earlier, but it didn’t work out. The kids recalled the maze in Goblet of Fire and warned me to keep an eye out for anyone with red or blank eyes. “And don’t touch any trophies! They could be portkeys!” I reminded them of the scene in the 6th movie (that wasn’t in the book) of running through the corn field with Bellatrix out there. We trained ourselves to be alert!
Meanwhile, it had turned dark and you could hear screams every few minutes. Screams in the dark when you can’t see anything beyond the corn to your left and right is a bit spooky. We reached a corner that I was sure we’d already walked past three times. We turned and . . .
After a hayride and some caramel corn, we trucked home with a gigantic pumpkin (you’ll see this one later) and crashed, happy but tired.
Have you ever done a corn maze? I’d love to hear about your experience. If you haven’t, I highly recommend it! Wonderful memory maker!
