Some Easy Me-Time (And a Giveaway)

If you need a tangible, visible definition of sensitive skin, then give me a call.
I’m the nightmare of many makeup/skin care line consultants. Whenever I’ve gone to those home parties, I let them know of my sensitive skin but inevitably have a moment where I shout out: “Is it normal for your skin to feel on FIRE?!”

Sigh. Same thing happens to me with heavily perfumed soaps, washes, or moisturizers.

That said I’m very loyal to the Dove® Beauty Bar. It’s never once caused me to yell out, “Fire!” So when they asked me to try the new Dove® VisibleCare™Renewing Crème Body Wash, I hesitantly said yes.

Why hesitant? Because the package says it gives you visibly more beautiful skin. It also says: “Use daily for softer, smoother skin in one week.” Usually for sensitive skin girls, that means fire. But it also says it contains the highest concentration of NutriumMoisture™ across the Dove product line. That gave me hope.

A few weeks ago, I caught Anabelle staring at a primer makeup sample I received in the mail. It had a before and after picture that showed dramatic results.

Anabelle stared at the two pictures closely. “Sure, her skin looks nicer but how come her eyes and hair are lighter?” She sat up, rolled her eyes, and muttered, “Ads.”

So wanting to be a blogger of integrity, I asked Anabelle if she would carefully examine my skin before using the Dove® VisibleCare™Renewing Crème Body Wash and after a week of use. She agreed.

I faithfully used the stuff once a day for a week. The wash has a barely noticeable fruity aroma and feels like thick moisturizer on your skin. In other words, I liked it.
And as most moms know, sometimes the only moments alone are in the bathroom. So to feel pampered (and not on fire) is a treat. Still, I wondered if it’d start to bother my skin with repeated use. But it didn’t. A few days later my husband gave me a hug and said, “Your skin feels really soft.”

I gave him an Elaine-from-Seinfeld-inspired shove and said, “No way!”

Anabelle agreed. My skin really, truly, was getting softer.  So on days when it’s just not feasible to get some me-time away from kids, getting pampered (without taking extra time) really does make a difference. Today it’s been almost 3 weeks of use and I’m still loving the way it makes my skin feel.
