What to Do with Tart Apples

Thanks to Bountiful Baskets, I came home Saturday with a bunch of lovely produce.  Yet, the apples were TART!  So I did something I haven’t done since I was a teen.  I took a room temperature block of cream cheese and mixed it with 1/2 c. of brown sugar and a half cap full of vanilla.

The result?  Sam took one bite and said, “Mom! You need to post this on the blog!  I’ll even pose for you.”

I raised an eyebrow.  Unusual for my son to offer to pose for photos, but who am I to argue against a good thing?  So I cut an apple and agreed.

I’d lift my camera and Sam would dip the slice and shove it into his mouth as fast as possible.  “Sam! A little slower.”

“Oh. Sorry, Mom.  Guess I need another slice.”

It took two tries for me to realize his agenda.  I’ve said it before.  Beware the charmer!

His sisters noticed how quiet their brother had gotten and investigated… “What?! How come you didn’t tell us?!” and joined the party.  Within 15 minutes, all 5 apples were gone.  Sigh.  I’m guessing it probably tasted good.
